Jewelry Care

The jewelry created by Jennifer Vining Designs is made with precious materials and must be treated with care. Over time, the sterling silver in the jewelry will tarnish.  This process can be slowed by storing your jewelry in the anti-tarnish reclosable plastic bags they are shipped in.  Exposure to air is the primary factor that causes tarnish, so keeping this to a minimum will slow the process of tarnishing.  The special anti-tarnish bags are manufactured with Silver-Guard, which neutralizes gases that cause tarnish.  You should replace your anti-tarnish bags every 1-2 years.  Click here to purchase replacement anti-tarnish bags.

Even with special care, your sterling silver will show some tarnish eventually.  When this happens, you can polish your silver using a special polishing cloth.  Polishing cloths contain special cleaners, and should not be used on gemstones.  You can use them to polish sterling silver and other metals, wood, ceramic, glass, and hard plastic.  Do not wash your polishing cloth; continue using it until it is completely soiled, and then replace it.
